Why have a Pastors’ Network?

• To support one another as fellow leaders of the One Church of Jesus Christ in the region;
• To help exercise pastoral responsibility as elders of the One Church of Jesus Christ in the region, particularly in praying together;
• To better impact the region as we work together for Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, remembering His prayer in John 17:
  "that they may be one... May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."
   

How does the Network operate?

• By "networking" - i.e. building relationships in each local area and across the region of Illawarra, through:
• local area prayer groups which already meet (as part of existing fraternals etc.), or are formed especially to meet, regularly e.g. weekly, fortnightly or monthly - as decided in each area;
• regional prayer meetings e.g. the monthly Pastors' Prayer Breakfast, and an annual Pastors' Prayer Summit;
• communication:
• personally - commitment to keep in contact with others in the area;
• area - in the local prayer group, fraternal or other grouping;
• regionally - through the "Pastors' Link" and the work of the co-ordinator or convenor, David Bartlett;
• Through a minimal structure for accountability purposes. In 2000, the Illawarra Pastors' Network was formally set up as an unincorporated association, with a Constitution and status as an income tax-exempt charitable institution. The Network is registered as ABN 80 317 448 747. The leadership team is as follows:
• Servant-leader team of five pastors from the region;
• A Convenor (Pastor to Pastors) who is accountable to the Servant-Leader team, and supported by the pastors of churches in the Illawarra.
